New Product Development Project Manager

While working in the plastics industry, my primary job was new product development for a fast-growing thermoforming and rotational molding company making kayaks, small boats, and other outdoor plastic merchandise.

As the Project Manager, I would oversee the initiation, R&D (often through multiple iterations as approved by management), design and approvals, bill of materials, costs and sourcing, customer support (when applicable), tooling, product testing, production tests and implementation, work instruction creation, and high-volume product launchers.

In addition to designing new kayaks, I also managed accessory designs like seats, foot pedals, and paddles. I worked with engineers, purchasers, importers, and factories (domestic and overseas).

Projects were initiated around a target launch date, accounting for supplies line shipments, production time, and customer expectations.
